Stolle Machinery has recently launched a new product, a test trolley for applying ink to its Concord Decorator stations. This system also makes it possible to test and repair inks on a decorating machine without stopping production on the can line.
The trolley is mobile and can be moved around the plant floor with lockable wheels. In addition, it complies with CE and ANSI safety standards thanks to its all-around protection and locking switches. Protective doors on each of its four sides can be opened to access the inking unit when not in use.
The ink system mounting bracket features sliding bars that allow easy installation and removal of the inkers from the top or front. There are built-in quick disconnect ports to match those of the decorator. The servomotor drive assembly moves in and out to facilitate coupling or uncoupling with the inker drive system, and can be adjusted to align with the ink station. The servo motor can operate at speeds up to 1000 RPM and has a timer that automatically shuts down the motor after a user selectable time.
The test vehicle has a coolant pumping system that is used to ensure the correct operation of the cooling lines and to verify the tightness of the pressure seals.
The coolant reservoir has a capacity of 8.5 gallons, enough to supply four ink machines, and has an integrated pump for automatic filling. The controlled pneumatic system ensures proper operation for the ink and guide rollers.
To ensure good system performance, a pulse lubrication system is implemented to prepare and provide the necessary lubrication to the inking unit and its components while in operation. The carriage’s HMI interface allows the inking process to be controlled, its status monitored and diagnostics performed. In addition, pressure and temperature sensors provide information and the ability to detect potential failures.
