Impermea Materials and INX International Ink Co. have sealed an exclusive strategic alliance to boost the commercialization of high-performance, PFAS-free barrier coatings for packaging. INX will act as the exclusive distributor of Impermea’s OLEO-PAK 4100 coating, bringing it to printing and packaging converters worldwide.
The collaboration combines Impermea’s patented technology platform with INX’s global reach and technical expertise, enabling rapid expansion of polyethylene and PFAS-free packaging in the international market. David Zamarin, CEO and founder of Impermea Materials, highlighted that the packaging industry faces a critical point due to increasing regulatory pressure on plastics and “forever” chemicals.
The initiative responds to the demand for recyclable, compostable, and FDA-approved barriers, offering resistance to oils and fats, water vapor control, and food safety without PFAS chemicals. OLEO-PAK 4100 complies with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 and FDA conditions A-J.
Bryce Kristo, President and CEO of INX, noted that combining INX’s global network with Impermea’s next-generation chemistry has the potential to redefine sustainability standards in packaging.
The agreement follows the venture investment made by INX in 2023 in DetraPel, Impermea’s parent company. Joint pilot programs will begin in late 2025, initially for food service applications, with plans to expand to other commercial uses.
