In the face of persistent global uncertainty, Hydro has decided to implement proactive measures to reinforce its long-term resilience and improve operational efficiency. In this context, the company has announced the temporary suspension of hiring administrative and technical personnel (white collar) in Group functions, Business Areas, and Global Services, effective immediately.
The global business environment is increasingly affected by geopolitical tensions, trade disruptions, and economic volatility. Although Hydro has already taken actions to mitigate these challenges, it is now taking a further step to ensure a solid position for the future.
“The 2025 strategic plan focused on growth in specific areas, for which we incorporated resources. The 2030 strategy prioritizes strengthening the core of our integrated value chain. The world has changed, and we must adapt to this new reality. Therefore, we are acting now,” explains Eivind Kallevik, President and CEO of Hydro.
The hiring freeze will halt all external recruitment processes for administrative and technical positions in the affected areas. However, hiring for operational positions (blue collar) within the Business Areas will continue as planned.
In parallel, Hydro will initiate a structured review of the number of administrative and technical employees to ensure that the workforce is aligned with strategic priorities and operational efficiency. This evaluation will help the company determine its current and future needs.
Hydro is committed to carrying out this process with transparency, responsibility, and in close collaboration with employee representatives.
With these measures, Hydro aims to strengthen its capacity to face uncertainty and continue generating sustainable value in the long term, based on its core values: care, courage, and collaboration.
