The Hindalco Hirakud-FRP plant has joined ASI as a new production and processing member. The Hindalco Hirakud-FRP plant located in Sambalpur, Odisha, about 325 km from Bhubaneswar, houses one of the most advanced rolling mills in the country. This 50-acre facility was established in April 2009 following a collaborative review by the Hindalco and Novelis teams.

“Hindalco Industries ltd, Hirakud FRP, an Aditya Birla group company and a world-class flat rolled products manufacturing facility, is on a journey to achieve process excellence and sustainable products to create value for its shareholders,” says Sudarsan Dutta, head of quality at Hirakud FRP plant.

In September 2009, the initiative received management approval. The plant was commissioned in October 2012 and commercial production started in April 2013. Hirakud FRP is a world-class, low-cost rolling facility with a rated capacity of 135 KT per year and produces about 22% of Hindalco’s total rolled products.

The company specializes in tight tolerance products such as beverage can stock (CBS), aluminum foil stock, lid stock, fan blade stock and electronic panel stock used in the electrical, air conditioning, consumer durables and household industries.
