Hydro and Albras recently signed a partnership agreement with the government of the State of Pará to build the Usina de Paz Barcarena (UsiPaz). This initiative is a project integrated into the state public policy called Territories for Peace, developed by the government of Pará in partnership with the private sector and coordinated by the Strategic Secretariat for the Articulation of Citizenship (SEAC).
Its main objective is focused on promoting the environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda and financing another project to contribute to social and territorial development. In addition, the Barcarena Peace Plant will be located at Rua Almeida Moraes and will offer several free services to the population, including medical, dental and psychological care, legal advice, issuance of documents, leadership training, sports activities and vocational courses.
The municipality of Barcarena could not be left out of the cities benefiting from this project. Our goal is always to collaborate with local development and this is another of Hydro’s efforts in this regard,” said Anderson Baranov, Hydro’s Senior Vice President of External Relations in South America.
Hydro had already built and delivered three units of the Peace Plant in the most socially vulnerable neighborhoods in the capital, Belém, generating more than 1,300 jobs with an investment of around R$160 million. In addition, the company formalized a partnership with the state government for the construction of the Paragominas Peace Plant near Hydro’s bauxite mine.
