The Palacio de la Oliva was the setting chosen for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Vigo-based company Hermasa, which specializes in the design of machinery and intelligent plants for the fish and canning industry, celebrates its anniversary since the company was founded in 1972. Half a century in which it has positioned itself as the undisputed leader in technological innovation in the Free Trade Zone of the Port, expanding its power in 70 other countries.
The event was attended by the President of the Xunta de Galicia, the Mayor of Vigo, the Government Delegate in Galicia, canning businessmen from the five continents and more than 200 guests. This meeting coincides with the celebration of the XI World Tuna Conference, in which the Vigo company has a leading role.
Half a century of history in which the company from Vigo has managed to design a machine to pack 500 cans per minute, changing the way of designing and dimensioning a canning factory. Founded in the 1970s, it meant a great change for the Galician and world canning industry, by introducing automation and specialized devices in the daily work of these companies. Nine out of ten large canneries around the world operate at least one machine from this company.
