Henkel Adhesive Technologies has long distinguished itself as one of the leading companies in the area of pretreatment for metals. Henkel Adhesive Technologies has been developing smart packaging solutions for food, beverage and household products for many years. The product portfolio focuses especially on safety and sustainability aspects, avoiding the use of basic substances such as bisphenol A (BPA) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).

Henkel will demonstrate its commitment to product safety with the Triple Safety program at METPACK, the leading trade fair for the metal packaging industry. This means that all substances used will be subject to toxicological evaluation and will be eliminated if they prove to be harmful to users. To achieve this, Henkel has teamed up with the OFI institute in Austria, which specializes in sealants. The presentation at the METPACK Conference will focus on the risks of BPA-NI coatings in relation to food contact. In order to guarantee food safety for both humans and animals, ensuring that there are no controversial chemicals within the coating.

For the cleaning of beverage cans, a new product called Bonderite C-IC 72000 was developed. This cleaning solution operates at a lower temperature than usual, i.e. 43 degrees Celsius (110 degrees Fahrenheit) instead of 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). This feature reduces the consumption of natural gas and carbon from the plant where it is produced. The product also offers additional benefits such as reduced foaming problems and improved water utilization.
