Henkel has announced that it will abandon its business activities in Russia in the wake of the ongoing war in Ukraine. Henkel says it will work closely with its teams in Russia on the details to ensure an orderly process that is currently underway.

In the meantime, Henkel’s 2,500 employees in Russia will continue to keep their jobs and salaries. The expected financial impact for Henkel as a result of the planned exit cannot be quantified at this time.

Henkel CEO Carsten Knobel points out that “Henkel condemns Russia’s war against Ukraine and the violence against innocent civilians. Our priority remains to do everything we can to support our colleagues in Ukraine.”

Knobel concludes: “We are giving our full support to our employees, the people of Ukraine and neighboring countries by providing financial contributions and donations of food and materials. Many Henkel employees are also providing help at the borders by distributing basic necessities and offering Ukrainians a place to stay.
