HEINEKEN TO PRODUCE 7.5 MILLION CANS OF DRINKING WATER TO BE DELIVERED TO COMMUNITIES IN NUEVO LEON
HEINEKEN Mexico will deliver close to 500,000 cans of drinking water and confirms that it will generate the production of 7 million more cans to be distributed to the community of Nuevo Leon. Through the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Equality and Inclusion, the Mexican Social Security Institute, the Municipality of Monterrey, the Red Cross, and Caritas of Monterrey, the aforementioned cans will be able to reach more people with greater opportunity, thanks to the infrastructure they have.
“We believe that to Provide a Better World we must start at home and we continue to take actions to be part of the solution to the challenge we face. Therefore, today, in addition to this delivery, we share that we have begun to use an important part of our production capacity at the Monterrey Brewery to package an additional 7 million cans of drinking water, which will be delivered between August 15 and 22 to the organizations that are joining us today,” said Monica Bichara, VP of Corporate and Legal Affairs at HEINEKEN Mexico.
Martha Herrera, Secretary of Equality and Inclusion of Nuevo Leon mentioned, “As a State we contribute in different ways to stabilize this crisis that we are all living and of which we must all be part of the solution, I am very grateful to HEINEKEN Mexico because the commitment was seen from the beginning, with the collaborative work they have done with the State, with water and drainage, with the people who need it most, with those neighborhoods that have not had the supply of this vital liquid in their neighborhoods and for which they have already donated about 130.They have already donated close to 130,000 cans, but today we have the great news that they are going to donate more than 2.5 million liters through the different agencies that we have gathered together”.
Santos Valdés Salinas, Secretary of Public Services of the Municipality of Monterrey, also thanked the company “for joining in the work we do to support the inhabitants of Monterrey, because not only do they do it with this contribution, they also do it with the pipes that travel daily throughout the city to bring water to the families of Monterrey.
“The water crisis we face is the result of a prolonged drought, population growth in our state and a reduced investment in water infrastructure in recent years. Faced with the challenge we face, the collaboration of all is critical and necessary, only together and coordinated: authorities at all levels, citizens and industry, we can move forward. For this reason, CAINTRA, as the voice of the industrialists in our entity, promotes the initiative “SUMEMOS UN CHORRO” with which we show our solidarity with the most vulnerable communities, where the water supply has not been constant. The effort made has been enormous, however, this will not stop us from continuing to contribute, we continue to seek solutions to address, at the same time, the emergency and be part of the medium and long term actions that Nuevo León requires and we invite all companies to join us in this commitment,” said Guillermo Dillon, CAINTRA’s general director.
The production and delivery of cans is in addition to the actions that HEINEKEN Mexico has carried out since the beginning of the water crisis previously announced and which are part of CAINTRA’s “SUMEMOS UN CHORRO” (Let’s ADD A CHORRO) initiative.
