Dubai hosted the 6th GulfCan Conference from May 24 to 26,  and its director, Alison Prioleau, takes stock and highlights the success of the event. “After a four-year hiatus, it has been great to be back in Dubai.  This is the 6th GulfCan Conference and it felt like a reunion of friends who have been part of the show since the beginning. We also had many new suppliers, undoubtedly thanks to the marketing that Mundolatas provided to reach new markets,” notes Prioleau.

In this regard, the representative emphasized that because of Covid, the conference had to be postponed from February to May. “This worked well for attendees who were unable to travel during the pandemic.  The total attendance was 260 people, 110 suppliers and 150 can makers. It is a remarkable mix that demonstrates the desire of can makers to learn about the latest technologies and innovations in the industry.  The technical seminar featured 14 presentations from companies such as Belvac, Inx, Soudronic and Hyperion. The exhibition showcased the latest technologies and innovations from 55 companies from Europe, the United States and Asia,” adds the representative.

He also reiterates that “in the metal packaging sector we recognize the convenience, high quality shelf life and eye-catching design that characterize our products. It is now more important than ever that metal packaging can also make the unique claim of infinite recyclability. Conferences like GulfCan promote the new technologies and innovations that keep our products exciting and increasingly indispensable.”

Finally, Prioleau highlights as an important additional benefit that “GulfCan brings people together in an industry where we all have long-term connections and friendships.  I always look forward to seeing people I have known for decades, as well as meeting new friends with whom I often have mutual connections.  Our next exhibition will be in China in September 2023. With China opening up, there will be a flood of can makers eager to innovate and take advantage of the cost-cutting technologies developed over the past three years. It will be an exciting time to move forward with all that our global industry has to offer.”
