The global industrial packaging solutions company, Greif, has announced the definitive closure of its steel drum and polymer container manufacturing plant located in Merced, California. The closure, scheduled for September 2025, is part of a broader strategy to optimize operations and reduce costs.

According to the company, the closure will affect approximately 43 jobs. The facility produced both steel drums and polymer containers of various sizes, and its functions will be taken over by the rest of Greif’s global network.
