Pioneer, true to its commitment to sustainability, has announced that it is now a pioneer in Spain in the use of LED technology for ink drying in offset printing. “With this we have completed another of the milestones we had set in our green agenda. In this way, both GRAFOMETAL and its main customers are working on the promised path of reducing the carbon footprint generated by the sector’s activity,” says Mª Eugenia Marín.says Mª Eugenia Marín, director of GRAFOMETAL.
The manager adds that “we have made a major investment to replace the ink drying system of one of our printers based on UV technology with a new system using LED technology”.
With a much lower installed power and a much more efficient operating mode, this technology allows a considerable reduction in CO2 emissions due to the reduction of electricity consumption in the ink drying process within the printing process.
At present, this investment does not represent an economic saving in the overall process, as the cost of the specific inks required for this type of technology is still high, which reinforces our main commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.
Eugenia adds that “At GRAFOMETAL we continue to be very proactive in the search for and monitoring of new technical and technological advances in our sector in order to remain a leading company and a reference in varnishing and printing in Europe”.
“What we do today affects future generations.”
