GLOSSARY OF TERMS D

TERM MEANING
DECORATION

Print

See print.
DECORATOR Machine that performs the printing on the already formed container ( two-piece type ).

DEVELOPMENT OF
BODY
Unfolded body of the container, i.e. a flat sheet of metal that later forms the body of the container.. This is also the name given to the base of the rectangle that defines the aforementioned surface.
SHEET UNLOADER

Sheet storage
Sheet stacker

See sheet stacker
DOWNLOAD
(BODIES)
Shearing defect in shearing shears. The four corner angles are not exactly 90 degrees. It is easily seen by taking two bodies flat cut bodies, turning one of them upside down and superimposing them; you will see that they do not coincide perfectly.
DEFIBRILLATOR

Softening machine
Leveler
Shelling machine

See sheller.
GRINDING MACHINE

Softening machine
Leveler
Shredder

Machine that breaks the granular structure resulting from the cold rolling of the tinplatebase steel.. This structure is detrimental as it gives the metal a certain acridity and makes it difficult to winding of the blade. It works by passing the blades through a series of pairs of rotating rollers. It is usually part of a more complex machine (welding machine, agrafadora….)

WASTE

Snip

See clipping.
DESPUNTE Cutting of material – with removal of the material – which is carried out at both ends of the edge corresponding to the height of the body. while it is still flat. This edge will then be folded back to form the outer hook of the the seam. These reduce the amount of metal in the area of the flap. flap when making the closing. It is used only in the type of agrafada sidewall.

GRAIN DIRECTION In the operation of cold-rolling of tinplatebase steelThe grains that form its structure are elongated in the sense of lamination. The grain direction therefore coincides with the major axis of the grain and indicates the direction of lamination. It must be taken into account for certain operations, for example, the embossing or that of winding.

DISPARITY
(BODIES)
Defect inbody welding operation. When looking at the welding it can be seen that the two edges of the body are not exactly paired, one appears slightly displaced in relation to the other. Generates problems in the close. It is corrected by acting on the positioning system of the body at the welding welding.
DOUBLE CLOSING
(FRICTION LOCK)

Double friction

Fitting shape between the cap and the rim of a container for industrial products. (paints, etc.) in which there are two vertical sealing surfaces. That is to say the plug grips on the ring by means of two friction walls in the form of concentric cylinders.

DOUBLE FRICTION
(FRICTION LOCK)

Double locking

See double locking.
DOUBLE REDUCED
(HOJALATA)
Tinplate than its base steel has undergone a second reduction or cold rolling. It allows to obtain material with smaller thicknesses, higher hardness and more controlled mechanical characteristics.

DOMO
(TWO-PIECE PACK)
Concavity located at the base of the body of two-piece containers that performs the same functions as the bottomin the case of a three-piece container . Its sunken shape allows it to withstand high internal pressures without deforming.
DRD. Two-piece container bodydeep drawing technology. It consists of making several drawing successive drawing, that’s why it is also called “draw-redraw”.
DWI Two-piece container body forming technique based on a stepwise deep drawing operation . followed by stretching and ironing of the side wall material. Used for containers which will only be subjected to internal pressure, never to vacuum – as the resulting wall is very thin – mainly to contain carbonated beverages. The three letters DWI stand for “stuffed-stretched-ironed”.
