Shortages of glass and aluminum are being reported in some industrial zones of Mexico, which caused a generalized shortage of beer in the southern zone of Tamaulipas. This was confirmed by Reyes González, president of the Association of Restaurant and Seasoned Food Businessmen, who added that the problem has been going on for a month.

The representative said that glass and aluminum manufacturers are not supplying, causing shortages of different brands of beer in can and glass presentations, so restaurants, convenience stores, warehouses and bars are struggling to find products to serve their customers.

“We have about a month and a half that the plants are not supplying 100 percent and as the days go by the supply of breweries has been decreasing, it is managed that there is a shortage of glass, aluminum”. Reyes Gonzalez confirmed that sales have not been affected to date, but he does not rule out the possibility that in less than a month negative numbers will begin.

The lack of product affected two of the country’s most important brands. This means that they will have to change their plans to buy products from abroad or even craft beer. “Not yet, many colleagues work with a bodega or get product elsewhere, but I think that in two weeks we will notice the difference and we will have to use other types of products, such as imported or handmade products,” he added.
