The Nussbaum Group announces that it is withdrawing from the tube business. The German company admits that it has taken this drastic decision due to the difficult market situation in the field of aluminium tubes. That is why Nussbaum Matzingen AG has decided to concentrate on its core business, the development and production of aluminium cans.

The first consequence of this unexpected decision has not been long in coming, directly affecting a total of 35 employees at the Kesswil plant. However, management is developing a social compensation plan to avoid difficult cases. Fortunately, with the planned expansion of the Matzingen site, the company is considering relocating some of its employees there.

“We are proud of the world’s first monobloc aluminium can with an unbeatable 96% CO2 reduction and market availability, produced from 100% used beverage cans. With our other top sellers, such as refillable screw cans, deo roll cans and shaker cans, we expect considerable growth,” the company says.

The management regrets that with this the last Swiss aluminium tube manufacturer is closing its doors and clarifies that the tube production lines were sold as part of an asset purchase agreement to the Linhardt Group.

As a pioneer of innovations, the Nussbaum Group has specialised in the production of monobloc aluminium cans and other aluminium packaging solutions since 1963 at three production sites. It also has a substantial focus on the traditional development of sustainable products with environmentally friendly production methods.
