Galicians now have 10,000 new recycling containers that have been added to the waste collection network in the last five years. Since 2017, thanks to the firm commitment on the part of the Xunta de Galicia for recycling in collaboration with Ecoembes, the citizens of the Galician community already have 7,761 yellow containers to which must be added another 2,239 blue ones intended for the deposit of packaging.
If we translate this into data, Galicia has grown by 20% in terms of recycling in the last five years. To achieve this, the Xunta de Galicia and Ecoembes, the non-profit environmental organization that coordinates the recycling of packaging in Spain, have launched various awareness campaigns and actions, and have brought recycling closer to Galician citizens through the installation of new yellow and blue containers.
In the last five years, a total of 10,000 new containers have been installed in this community so that its citizens can deposit the packaging they consume in them, which represents an increase of nearly 20% in containerization. Specifically, in the last five years, 7,761 new yellow containers have been installed for plastic, metal and briks, and 2,239 blue containers for paper and cardboard.
