In 2025, food can shipments in the United States recorded a growth of 3.8% compared to the previous year, closing the year with a total of 24.6 billion units, according to the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI).
The increase was primarily led by vegetable cans, which showed outstanding performance and contributed significantly to the annual volume. Other categories, such as pet food, also helped sustain overall growth.
Although some lines, such as certain processed foods, showed a slight decline, two-piece cans continued to dominate the market, while three-piece cans experienced moderate growth.
This result confirms the strong demand for metal packaging in the U.S. food sector and highlights the relevance of cans as a format for food preservation and transportation in the industry.
