A large fire has burned part of Fadesa’s facilities in the south of Guayaquil. 14 firefighting units were involved in the firefighting operations. All indications are that the fire may have started during maintenance work at the plant.
The fire recorded in phase 2 affected the electric supply service in the south of the city. After smothering the flames in the private plant, technical personnel are working against the clock to repair the damage caused by the fire so that the personnel of the National Electricity Corporation (CNEL) can go to the site to restore power to the plant. Many assured that the magnitude of the fire was serious, as the smoke could be seen from several kilometers away. There were no injuries or fatalities, only material damage.
Shortly after firefighters completed the cooling work, electrical service was restored and there were no injuries or fatalities. There was only material damage.
