The FEA has released manufacturing data obtained in the year 2022 for aerosol articles of European origin. According to the statistics presented, the total number of units produced remained unchanged at 5.3 million during the previous year.


According to the latest report of the European Aerosol Federation, three countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany and France carried out the majority production in Europe with a total share of 55%. In total, they produced 1.4 million, 971 million and 650 million, respectively.


Four of the world’s leading aerosol manufacturers came from Italy with a total of 533.7 million units (10% of the total), the Netherlands with 404.4 million (7.6%), Spain produced 287 million (5.4%) and so on.


The European manufacturing sector was led by personal care and household products, which accounted for more than 75% of production. The first category accounted for more than 55% of the jobs, and the second category accounted for most of the rest (21%).


Among the different domestic segments, the largest number of items produced were air fresheners, which reached 537.5k complete units. Following the list are insecticides and phytosanitary products with 220.4k manufactured as well as care products (fabrics, furniture, leather, shoes and textiles) with 107k and finally products dedicated to cleaning with 60.5k.


Specifically, global European aerosol production was 5.5 million in 2012, and stood at 5.3 million by 2022, a slight drop. The United States experienced a similar decline in units filled, with 3.8 million units produced in 2012 and 3.7 million last year. China, however, experienced a sharp increase in the last decade, with 1.5 million units in 2012 and 2.6 million in 2022.
