FADESA Ecuador, a leading Latin American manufacturer of metal containers based in Ecuador, has just announced that it has obtained the BRCGS Packaging Materials Certificate, which ensures that the company’s containers meet hygienic and sanitary requirements and will reach the end consumer safely.

The company is pleased to have obtained this new certificate because “with this recognition we will be able to access new markets and take our customers’ products further, guaranteeing reliability and safety”.

In addition, BRCGS certification results in better compliance with industry standards and safer food for consumers. New research concludes that BRCGS-certified companies have a clear competitive advantage.

The BRCGS global standard for packaging materials helps a site or operation demonstrate that they are providing quality assured, legally compliant and authentic products. The first to be recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), BRCGS Packaging Materials is now in its sixth edition and has become the global industry benchmark. It is used not only by producers of food packaging, but also by producers of packaging for all applications along the supply chain.

This standard is applicable for operations that produce packaging materials for converting or printing. Also for those companies that supply packaging materials from stock where additional processing or repackaging of the product takes place, as well as the manufacture and supply of other unprocessed, semi-converted and used or incorporated products.

Finally, the steady increase in the adoption of certification schemes is helping food business operators (FBOs) everywhere to provide safer and higher quality food to global markets.
