As part of the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility Law, Ley Rep, the municipality of Coquimbo -in agreement with ReSimple- will collect light recyclable products in the homes of the commune, in a pilot plan that will cover 25% of the territory.
A new step in the care of the environment and recycling is being taken by the commune of Coquimbo with the implementation of recyclable waste collection trucks. The initiative is a pilot plan that covers 25% of the commune and is part of the beginning of the Extended Producer Responsibility Law, REP, making Coquimbo the first commune in northern Chile to carry out door-to-door collection of reusable products.
The plan, implemented by the Municipality of Coquimbo in agreement with ReSimple, will reach Peñuelas, part of La Cantera and a large part of Tierras Blancas. The initiative seeks to encourage a more sustainable waste management model, promoting the separation and recycling of materials in households and reaffirming the environmental commitment of the neighbors of the commune.
The mayor of Coquimbo, Ali Manouchehri, pointed out that as a municipal administration it is important to take firm steps towards sustainable development through education and actions that mobilize the community. This plan for the removal of recyclable products from households is a concrete example of the municipal commitment to care for the environment, benefiting in this first stage
