Roba Metals is originally a Dutch company that has been active in Genk since 1997 and will therefore celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. It has just announced major expansion plans. Specifically, the metal-mechanical company has initiated an investment process of more than 20 million euros. Among other things, 20,000 square meters of studio space will be added.
The company is currently in a growth phase. Already 2011, the company injected another 15 million euros for the expansion of office and studio space. Exactly 10 years later, according to Roba, the capacity is again becoming insufficient, so a further 20 million has been invested in additional buildings and 2 new machines at Slingerweg. Upon completion of the 20,000 m2 of additional space, the total built-up area will soon be 60,000 m2.
The growth in activities also means a sharp increase in the number of employees. The Genk site currently employs more than 100 people. “After the current work, there will certainly be vacancies,” maintains the manager, Maurice Rothkrantz. Roba Metal’s specialty is the processing of steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
