Eviosys has announced the launch of the new, even lighter version of its Horizon™ metal closure, an innovative solution that, compared to the previous version, saves 33% CO2 emissions and encourages brands to adopt sustainable solutions for their packaging with a view to meeting customer expectations and more stringent regulations.

In June 2023, Eviosys launched its first version of the Horizon™ protective lid . It is an infinitely recyclable metal protective lid specifically designed to cover cans destined for markets such as infant formula, tea, coffee, cookies, etc.

This new version goes one step further and achieves an even lower weight, resulting in a 33% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the first version. Even lighter (from 15 to 5.8 grams) for 99-diameter cans, Horizon™ is fully optimized. Horizon™ facilitates the replacement of the plastic lids currently used for some metal cans and intended for resealing (cookies, coffee, baby milk, etc.) with a solution made of a single material, metal, from the base to the lid, and therefore infinitely recyclable.

New legislation, increasingly restrictive on the use of plastic such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation and other local regulations across Europe, enables Eviosys to help companies meet these requirements thanks to Horizon™. Unlike plastics, which are still often incinerated or buried, metal can be infinitely recycled without losing its properties Metal is, in fact, one of only two permanent materials that can be recycled without degrading. This material helps to break the destructive cycle of extraction-incineration and to reduce the contamination of soil, sea and wildlife with plastic waste. This is also demonstrated by a survey which shows that 45% of companies plan to use fully recyclable packaging within one to three years, and 90% within ten years [1].
