Thyssenkrupp Steel has installed an EMG eMASS system at its hot-dip galvanizing plant in Kreuztal-Eichen, Germany. This installation is part of a broader strategy to improve production in the region.
EMG eMASS.
This investment is one element of thyssenkrupp Steel’s broader “Strategy 20-30”, which includes an investment of millions of euros in the Siegerland region of Germany to optimize production capacities.
The EMG eMASS uses electromagnetic forces to keep the steel strip in a stable, vibration-free position as it moves through the galvanizing process (coating of the steel strip with molten zinc).
This is crucial to ensure that the coating is uniform over the entire surface of the strip.
Due to space constraints at the plant, the EMG eMASS system was customized to fit the environment.
The system has unique features, such as the ability to adjust in height and open in two parts (like butterfly wings) for easy maintenance.
