The Navarre-based firm Emérito, which specializes in technological solutions for the canning industry, has consolidated its position as an international leader in machinery for food packaging. Founded in 1964 by Emérito Sainz, the company arose from the ingenuity and innovative spirit of this self-taught mechanic, who, after managing a cannery in Mexico, returned to his homeland determined to develop the equipment he had dreamed of.

From its beginnings, the company focused on innovation in the treatment of products such as asparagus and peppers, later incorporating machines for washing, blanching, peeling, filling, and depalletizing. The company began its activity in the family garage with the support of his daughter, Milagros Sainz, and his son-in-law, Ángel Arteaga, who were in charge of technical design and commercial expansion, respectively.

After the founder’s death in 1986, the second generation took over the company and undertook a profound restructuring. In 2008, Hugo Arteaga Sainz, grandson of the founder, assumed the general management and became the sole owner. Under his leadership, Emérito has managed to expand its catalog to some 120 different pieces of equipment, covering all phases of the industrial packaging process.
