Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) and ITOCHU Corporation of Japan ratified a new cooperation agreement with the aim of continuing to work on the growth of aluminum production, decarbonization and development of UAE industries in EGA’s supply chain.
The agreement was signed at the Japan-United Arab Emirates Business Forum in Abu Dhabi. EGA’s relationship with ITOCHU dates back to the 1980s, with the Japanese company marketing EGA metal to customers in Japan and Japanese companies’ overseas operations.
The new agreement ratifies the agreement signed late last year in Tokyo to leverage the industrial capabilities of both companies in opportunities that complement EGA’s existing operations in the UAE.
For his part, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminum, added: “EGA and ITOCHU have worked together for decades, and our partnership has been an important part of the business relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Japan. We look forward to expanding this partnership further, to the benefit of our companies and both nations.”
Also Keita Ishii, president and COO of ITOCHU Corporation, added after signing the agreement, “The business relationship between ITOCHU and the United Arab Emirates is among the most important shared by our two nations. Our goal now is to deepen our work together to help meet the growing demand for aluminum in the coming decades.”
