DTE announced that it has been successful in reaching a $1.85 million contract for its unique real-time liquid metals intelligence solution with Nordural’s Century Aluminum plant. The objective of this contract is none other than to support new low-carbon products
Under this contract, DTE will provide its revolutionary real-time chemical composition analysis solution for the four refining stations of the new low-carbon billet foundry. DTE’s solution will control the quality of the liquid aluminum being transferred from the electrolysis room to the furnaces, optimizing the value chain by allowing the right quality of aluminum to be directed to the right furnace based on the final product to be melted.
For its part, Nordural will benefit from maximizing throughput, minimizing cycle time in the furnaces, minimizing emissions and energy consumption, and eliminating bottleneck constraints in the melt room. DTE’s fully autonomous solution also avoids the need for manual intervention by plant personnel, which contributes to plant safety and reduces analysis costs.
In this regard, Diego Areces, CEO of DTE, stated: “I am very grateful and excited about this opportunity, which is an important milestone for DTE. Nordural has been one of our strategic partners and has continued to be a great support for DTE. We look forward to delivering on this commitment and bringing value to the new low-carbon billet casting project. In addition, we will continue to work together, deploying DTE’s solution throughout Nordural’s production process to maximize operational efficiency, strength and sustainability.”
For his part, Olafur Arnar Fridriksson, project manager of Nordural’s new billet warehouse project, reiterated, “We are delighted to continue working with DTE. We see great potential in the equipment being tested in our existing hall, so the decision to select DTE for this project was an easy one. DTE is a strategic partner for Nordural, and their solution is gradually being implemented throughout the production process.”
