Having recently invested in energy use, Dreher (a division of Asahi Europe & International) decided to carry out the modernization of its brewery in Kőbánya, Budapest, with a budget of 7 billion Hungarian guilders (about 18.5 million euros). In addition, the company plans to increase its production of aluminum beers by 120%, thus offering new opportunities for exports. In addition, this project is focused on advancing its sustainability plans related to carbon use and expanding its portfolio of non-alcoholic products.
Using the latest technology, the company’s engineers were able to build a modern laboratory characterized by quality assurance. This unit was equipped with tools to detect problems in real time, without the need to go to the site in person. This development was executed entirely with the company’s own resources.
Dreher also anticipates that the investment will lead to a reduction in energy consumption and, subsequently, help reduce the brewery’s carbon footprint over time. In addition, the new line will be able to handle packaging materials from renewable sources and produce multipacks wrapped in pure cardboard, thus completely eliminating plastic packaging.
“At the heart of our ‘Dreher to Dreher’ philosophy is our unwavering commitment to seek opportunities for improvement and innovation, in line with the tradition of our founders. This ensures that Dreher, one of Hungary’s oldest companies, continues to operate successfully, offering uncompromising quality in its products. After meticulous planning, we placed the order for our new production line in early 2022 and, after rigorous laboratory testing, we expect the unit to be running at full capacity this summer.”concluded Gábor Békefi, CEO of Dreher Breweries.
