The U.S.-based can maker, which is based in the U.S. Crown Holdings has announced that its Board of Directors has elected President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy Donahue as its Chairman.

Donahue takes over the baton from John Conway, who was appointed to the position in 2001. Conway, the former president and CEO from 2000 to 2015, began working at Crown in 1974 and took the reins as chairman of the board in 2001.

In addition, Donahue has served as chief executive officer and president since 2016. Prior to that, he served as Crown’s president and chief operating officer, and as the company’s chief financial officer. An accountant by training, Donahue joined the can manufacturer, which is based in Yardley, Pennsylvania, in 1990.
