Crown Holdings ranks first for environmental, social and governance (ESG) risk mitigation within the metal and glass packaging sector by earning a positive rating from ESG Sustainalytics. “The organization advanced Crown to the Negligible Risk category, a designation achieved by only 1% of global corporations, and placed the company ahead of 55 other assessed peers in its metals and glass packaging sub-industry group,” Crown Holdings’ press release noted. “In addition, Crown Beverage Packaging North America, a division of Crown Holdings, was recently ranked in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (U.S. EPA) top 25 Fortune 500® Green Power Partners for demonstrating commitment to advancing the green power market. These ratings are the result of the packaging manufacturer’s sustained efforts. The Company’s “Twenty by 30” sustainability program outlines 20 ESG goals to be completed by 2030. “Since the launch of the initiative, the Company has raised a number of commitments, including reducing its carbon footprint and promoting responsibility, resource efficiency and safety throughout its value chain.”
In its review, Sustainalytics highlights Crown’s demonstration of minimal risk in the E&S impact of products and services, as well as occupational health and safety. “The assessment also highlights strong ESG risk management performance. Combined with low ESG risk exposure, Crown received an overall ESG risk ratings score of 9.8, an improvement of nearly two points between August 2020 and 2021 that placed Crown in the top performing ratings category and in first place within its sector.”
The U.S. EPA also recognizes Crown Beverage Packaging North America for its efforts to support the industry’s sustainability goals, ranking the Division 21st among its 71 Fortune 500 partners.
