Crown Grows in Brazil Demand Grows and So Does Can Plant Construction

T he Brazilian subsidiary of Crown Holdings, Crown Embalagens, has announced the construction of a beverage can plant in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The new two-line facility will produce two-piece aluminum cans in various sizes and will have an annual capacity of 2.4 billion cans. It will thus become the US group’s seventh plant in Brazil and is expected to start production in the second quarter of 2022 for the first line and in the fourth quarter for the second.

Crown currently has six plants, located in Cabreúva-SP (Cans), Estância-SE (Cans), Ponta Grossa-PR (Cans), Rio Verde-GO (Cans), Teresina-PI (Cans) and Manaus-AM (Lids).

“Brazil is an important growth market for us and our partner Évora SA. This expansion will help meet the country’s growing demand for beverage cans and demonstrates Crown’s continued commitment to grow with our customers,” said Djalma Novaes, President of Crown’s Americas Division.

“The aluminum beverage can is perfect for the Brazilian market; it is recyclable and sustainable, ships easily and preserves the quality of the beverage product more efficiently for the end consumer.”

Crown Embalagens is one of the most important manufacturers of aluminum cans for beer, soft drinks, juices and teas in Brazil. Its formation was made through a Joint-Venture between the American multinational in the field of packaging Crown Holdings, and the company Évora S / A, which operates in the field of packaging, extrusion of fibers and filaments for application in nonwovens and reforestation.
