And what lessons have companies learned about their commitment to sustainability in packaging?
The latest Smithers report “The Future of Global Packaging to 2028” indicates that Africa and the Middle East are two growth markets within the packaging sector. Over the next five years, both regions are projected to have an increase in packaging sales above the world average.

Crown Holdings is part of the Aluminum Recycling Coalition that was recently created. This coalition, led by Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) and other industry leaders, aims to improve aluminum recycling practices in the United Arab Emirates.
Crown is at the forefront of a movement in the Middle East and North Africa, committed to making a positive impact through its Twentyby30 sustainability program. This initiative includes measures to increase recycling rates and recycled content in aluminum cans. In collaboration with industry partners in the EMEA region, Crown aims to achieve an 80% recycling rate in the countries where it operates. Due to its infinite capacity to be recycled, the aluminum can is considered a circular option, as it can return to the shelf only 60 days after being consumed.
