The multinational Constellium announced that it will join the First Movers Coalition (FMC), an initiative for the reduction of carbon emissions and the acceleration of zero-carbon technologies.
The First Movers Coalition is a global initiative led by the World Economic Forum and the U.S. Government to decarbonize hard-to-reduce sectors by leveraging the combined purchasing power of companies. More than 50 companies have pledged to push for more green consumption and low-carbon installations to help make progress against global warming.
Constellium says that the First Movers initiative opens up new perspectives for the industry. Jean-Marc Germain was enthusiastic about the overall project and said he will see Constellium’s role in promoting circular economic development. “Our sustainability actions will be even more symbolic with this program. We are committed to doing our part in the fight against climate change and collaborating across the value chain to help drive the low-carbon transition.”
The multinational Constellium announced that it will join the First Movers Coalition (FMC). This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and support efforts to accelerate zero-carbon technologies.
The First Movers Coalition is a global initiative through the World Economic Forum and the U.S. Government to decarbonize hard-to-reduce energy sectors. The main potential sectors are companies. Already more than 50 companies are interested in facilitating greater green consumption by being active in the installation of clean sources to reduce energy consumption.
In addition, Constellium, the world’s leading aluminum industry, stated that it is very excited about the First Movers Project. Jean-Marc Germain, president of Constellium, was convinced that the project helps to build a sustainable future for the industry. “Our sustainability actions will be even more symbolic with this program. We are committed to doing our part in the fight against climate change and collaborating across the value chain to help drive the low-carbon transition,” the executive added.
“Constellium’s impact across the value chain makes the company a great addition to the First Movers Coalition. We look forward to partnering with Constellium to foster clean energy innovation and move the aluminum industry toward a carbon-free future.”said Nancy Gillis, director of the World Economic Forum’s Prime Movers Coalition Program.
By joining the FMC, Constellium commits that by 2030, 10% of its primary aluminum purchases will be from near-zero sources. This means that we will emit less than 3 tons of CO2 per ton (aluminum various nouns). The commitment also includes that by 2030 at least 50% of all Constellium’s aluminum uses will be from recycled sources.
