The multinational Constellium has announced that it will partner with the French National Center for Scientific Research and the University of Grenoble Alpes in the implementation of a new state-of-the-art aluminum laboratory.
The European value-added aluminum company intends with this announcement to strengthen its technological partnership with the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research) and the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA) with the creation of a new laboratory for aluminum research in industrial production.
The new laboratory, to be known as 3ALP, will work on developing new and useful aluminum alloys and finding ways to use new and existing aluminum alloys. In addition, the laboratory will collaborate with Science and Engineering of Materials and Processes (SIMaP) to develop new manufacturing processes, including new methods for additive manufacturing (3D printing).
In addition, 3ALP will provide Constellium with state-of-the-art aluminum fabrication technology and tools, as well as expertise in microstructural and multiphysical materials characterization, instrumental design and development of artificial intelligence tools for materials.
