January marked 132 years since the birth of Coca-Cola and its patented formula. Since then, it has become one of the five largest companies in the world. One of the reasons for its success is the great advertising investment that has accompanied this drink, which was sold in the eighties as the best substitute for coffee. Its slogan at that time was this: “A dose of fresh, bubbly caffeine in the morning”.
During World War II, the company created its popular aluminum can to be able to get it to the troops on the battlefield, where the soldiers were its greatest advertising bulwark, since they carried it everywhere. Many consider its formula to be a secret, but this is not so; nowadays it is possible to find it just by doing a little research through Internet search engines and finding out the components of the three recipes most used by the company.
Its origin is in pharmacies since its creator, John Pemberton, devised it as an alternative to morphine to which he was addicted, as he had been wounded during the American Civil War and had become dependent on this harmful drug.
Coca Cola is sold all over the world, except in two countries, Cuba and North Korea; in the former, its distribution is forbidden due to the American embargo on the island, and in the latter, due to the anti-American policy applied to all products made in the United States. Recently it has also had its boycott in Palestine due to the American support to the Israeli troops.
