Coca-Cola has recycled 26% of its aluminum bottles and containers by 2023 according to a company report on recycling targets for all its products where its recyclability rate is similar to other years. The company itself confesses that they are somewhat behind in their recyclability plans.

Coca-Cola set recycling and packaging targets in 2018 as part of its “A World Without Waste” strategy. In the latest environmental update, the company shared 2023 progress on sustainable packaging design and collection efforts.

Like many other brand owners, Coca-Cola pointed to business growth and continued limitations in recycling infrastructure as challenges. Coca-Cola participates in the U.S. Plastics Compact, which has been extended to 2030 for plastics. Emerging extended producer responsibility policies in the U.S. are also creating pressure.
