One of the three strategic pillars of the Mexican Coca-Cola FEMSA is to contribute to the care of the planet and its resources through actions focused on water preservation, reuse of organic matter, and good waste management.
The Mexican company was awarded gold in the Zero Waste Management System (SGBC). These awards are granted annually by ICONTEC and the Global Zero Waste organization.
At the event, they received the Zero Waste and Circular Economy Award during the flow of materials in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development. Kof is one of the first companies in Latin America and the Caribbean to achieve this distinction.
An event that also served for the presentation of the Integral Management Plan for Usable and Hazardous Waste as proposed by Coca-Cola FEMSA, which operated in the seven production plants in the country, and showed that by the end of 2021, the hole in the country will receive 8 thousand tons of waste from all its plants.
Thanks to this recognition, the company is the first bottling company in Mexico to receive this level of certification and reaffirms the environmental commitment that motivates its members to develop action plans to preserve the planet.
For Sandra Milena Pinzón, executive director of Basura Cero Colombia: “Basura Cero Global, as a leading organization in circular economy, and ICONICEC have allowed Coca Cola FEMSA to demonstrate its environmental commitment to sustainability issues, through conscious, voluntary and technical actions that strengthen the circular economy within its plants, and that makes it be recognized as a success story in the industry. This is also the first certification we have awarded to a beverage bottling company in Latin America.
