In late 2020, on World Food Day, Chicken of the Sea North America and its parent company, Thai Union Group PCL., redoubled their commitment in the United States to combat food insecurity, aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thus, Chiclen of the Sea donated more than 2.5 million portions of tuna, salmon and other protein-rich products canned and frozen to anti-hunger organizations that help in the localcommunities where the company operates. This was achieved through its partnership with organizations such as Feeding America and Convoy of Hope, which serve people in need across the country to provide food to those most in need. Efforts to establish a sustainable supply chain and bring disaster-affected communities are part of Thai Union’s SeaChange® program. It is a global sustainability strategy that the company presented in 2016.

“Under SeaChange®, the company has set milestones aimed at meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), including SDP 2: Zero Hunger.” Thiraphong Chansiri, president and CEO of Thai Union, noted that Thai Union has long supported local communities and this year the company and its global brands have worked to provide donations to those affected by COVID-19.”
