Cerveceros de España warns of the serious impact the transport strike will have on the entire value chain. Like other entities in the agri-food sector, this association warns of serious incidents recorded as a result of the strike throughout Spain.
This situation may eventually have a strong impact on the supply of this beverage, especially in the peninsula, both in the distribution channel and in the on-trade. In the consumer goods sector, the blockade is being noticeable, as deliveries to supermarket logistics platforms are being restricted.
Cerveceros de España also reminds us that this beverage can account for up to 25% of the turnover of bars, a figure that reaches up to 40% in the case of small catering companies. But it also directly affects raw materials. Restrictions on the free movement of vehicles also affect the entry and exit of all ingredients and by-products from breweries, such as bagasse, which is used as animal feed.
The association recalls that the right to strike cannot limit the right to voluntary work and the free movement of vehicles. Therefore, Cerveceros de España asks the Government to reinforce surveillance and security to ensure freedom of movement and business activity throughout Spain as a matter of urgency and appeals to the individual responsibility of all those involved.
