CBA announced the launch of the low carbon aluminum stamp and digital passport. These are presented as means that reinforce the transparency of its sustainable processes. From the moment CBA created a seal to ensure that aluminum was sustainably sourced, to the adoption of digital communication tools, CBA reiterates its commitment to the ESG strategy.
Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio has just launched Alennium, an exclusive seal that legitimizes the aluminum produced by the Company as low carbon. With the novelty, CBA seeks to facilitate the identification of products developed with low carbon emissions that contribute to a more sustainable world for the next millennium.
“By creating the Alennium seal, we believe that CBA aluminum is sustainable, adding value to the entire production chain,” said Leandro Faria, General Manager of Sustainability at CBA. “The seal can be used by CBA’s direct customers and also in packaging and other applications, containing our aluminum, intended for the end consumer.”
The company’s aluminum production is divided into two stages. The first is where the waste is produced, and the other is the process that finally produces the student. In the latter, it emits only 2.56 t CO2e / t of aluminum in its electrolysis stage, where the base matrix is produced. The company’s emissions inventory, which allows the calculation of Alennio’s product emissions, uses the GHG Protocol methodology and is verified by a third party.
In addition, CBA seeks to reaffirm its commitment to climate issues by assuming the objective of further reducing its carbon emissions by 40% in the indicator of molten products, starting from the mining stage. The company is also the first primary aluminum producer in the world to have emissions reduction targets approved by science-based targets, which means they are aligned with the Paris Agreement to combat climate change.
“We have reached the point where we need to not only realize, but also encourage partnerships and good sustainability practices. Therefore, we invite our customers and partners to adhere to the use of the seal, in order to multiply awareness of low-carbon products and motivate their choice.”added Faria.
