Carlsberg Britvic commemorates the 50th anniversary of its Leeds factory this December with a day of celebrations at the center itself and a dinner for employees at Headingley Stadium. The plant, located on Swinnow Lane, Bramley, opened in December 1975 under Bass Brewers, originally dedicated to the production of soft drinks in glass bottles, such as Canada Dry.
Today, the factory produces more than 420 million bottles per year, including popular brands such as Pepsi MAX, Tango, R. White’s Lemonade, 7UP, J2O, and Britvic Mixers (Tonic Water, Orange Juice, and Ginger Ale), being the only Carlsberg Britvic center that bottles these products in glass. The plant employs more than 250 people and offers training to young people through 12 apprentices from Appris College in Bradford.
Throughout its five decades, the factory has maintained a commitment to the local community, collaborating with schools, supporting foodbanks, and promoting the professional development of employees. Important milestones include the merger of Swinnow Lane and Pudsey in 1996, the production of plastic bottles between 2015 and 2017, and the recent innovation in Bag in Box, with octagonal boxes that reduce packaging weight and optimize transport.
