Israeli company, Caniel announced a revolutionary new tweak to the classic tuna can that, they say, will put an end to the dreaded drip. Specifically, the company has designed a spoutless can that allows you to gently pump the base to squeeze out the oil, rather than pressing down on the lid and having it drip all over the place.
Although at first glance it looks like a standard can of tuna, it is not. The metal base is elastic, unlike a rigid base, and has a button in the middle that yields to pressure, allowing it to gently squeeze out the oil.

“Using a can of tuna is a complicated business. We are looking for added value, for innovation to change the market. We did research that found that customers would be willing to pay 15 to 20 percent more for tuna in cans like ours. Our patented solution is a hassle-free solution,” detailed Lior Yemini, CEO of the company.

The new can bases take longer to manufacture and require high precision, which makes the product more expensive. However, Yemini assures that customers will be willing to pay more. “They don’t need to change anything on their production lines. They can work the same way they work today. With a little tweaking, they can adopt our technology and offer added value,” , the company’s founder emphasized.

Although it is not yet available in stores, “there is a lot of interest. We are talking to tuna companies from all over the world from Latin America, Europe, Spain and Italy,” said Yemini. The company is building a new factory in Kiryat Gat in southern Israel to enable increased production.
