Brazil’s Ambev has announced the purchase of 150 electric trucks from Chinese manufacturer JAC Motors. According to the company, the vehicles will be delivered before the end of the year and are in addition to the 100 electric trucks ordered by the company from Volkswagen.

Already in 2018, the beverage company signed a partnership with Volkswagen to put into circulation the first 100% electric truck in Latin America aimed at urban distribution, with zero emissions of greenhouse gases and polluting particles, in addition to helping reduce noise in cities.

Among its many advantages, the model is powered 100% by electricity from clean sources such as solar and wind. The tests were carried out on the most common beverage delivery and distribution routes in the city of São Paulo and the vehicle operated normally.

Developed in Brazil, the vehicle has cutting-edge solutions for green logistics, involving intelligent systems to adjust battery demand during operation and recover braking energy. In total, Ambev’s fleet of electric trucks currently totals 250 vehicles in some 20 cities across the country.

By 2023, the company has announced that it will acquire another 1,600 units of this type of truck, thus helping to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and the consequent emission of polluting gases. This is a pioneering initiative, as Ambev will be among the first in the world to use 100% electric vehicles on a large scale.
