Bhutan Agro Industries Limited has taken a decisive step to update its beverage portfolio, replacing the traditional tin packaging of its Royal Bhutan line with modern aluminum cans. The measure seeks to improve product quality, reinforce sustainability, and prepare the brand for international markets. According to the CEO of Bhutan Agro, “Aluminum cans mark a before and after for us: they better preserve the freshness of our juices, are more practical for consumers, and position our brand in global markets.” The new cans are lighter, easier to transport, and cool faster, offering an improved consumer experience. Their modern design also increases shelf appeal, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation without losing the essence of its natural ingredients.
With international standards met, Bhutan Agro has begun exporting its can line to Australia and maintains a presence in India and Bangladesh, with plans to expand soon in Southeast Asia.
Aluminum is 100% recyclable, allowing Bhutan Agro to align with the national sustainability policy, while reducing transport weight and associated costs.
Feedback from early buyers has been positive, highlighting the freshness of the product, portability, and attractiveness of the packaging, thus consolidating a successful transition for consumers and retailers.
Bhutan Agro is a benchmark in the country’s food and beverage sector, with an offer that includes fruit juices, bottled water, and related products. Its Royal Bhutan line combines local fruits with modern production techniques to offer high-quality beverages in both the domestic and international markets.
