BERICAP, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of plastic closures, has taken over Mala Verschluss-Systeme GmbH, thus expanding its product portfolio to include aluminum closures. Mala is a family-owned company based in Bad Liebenstein, Thuringia. In 2020 it generated annual revenues of EUR 40 million from the production and sale of aluminium screw caps for spirits, wine, soft drinks and edible oil. The business models and product range of BERICAP and Mala complement each other perfectly. While BERICAP focuses on the production and sale of plastic closures for the food, beverage and chemical industries, Mala specializes in theft-proof rolled aluminium closures (ROPP) and long closures for the wine and spirits market. As a result, powerful synergies will be created that will bring benefits to both companies. Mala gains access to new markets and BERICAP’s product portfolio expands to include aluminium closures. The acquisition will enable BERICAP to continue its growth trajectory and, with Mala on board, has the opportunity to open up new market segments and develop innovative closure technologies combining plastic and aluminum.
Completion of the product range
“Mala’s design capabilities and specialized production equipment for finishing and decorating aluminum closures are impressive. The company offers exceptional flexibility in customer projects with its own pad printing, side offset printing and hot foil stamping technology. Together we can tap our full potential and grow our business presence in expanding markets,” added Christian Krautkrämer.
