⦁ Bluemint® has a corrosion-resistant and easy-to-paint surface, key aspects for the Murcian company.
⦁ This type of steel, which significantly reduces Scope 3 emissions, is becoming increasingly important in the food industry.
Madrid, July 29, 2024 – Bemasa Caps, a company specialized in the manufacture and marketing of caps and packaging machinery, has begun using thyssenkrupp Rasselstein’s bluemint® steel for the production of twist-off caps for jam jars for international food brands.
Thus, Bemasa has used for the first time bluemint® steel with CO2 reduction for the production of twist-off caps for the company Hero.
For more than 35 years, Bemasa Caps, located in Molina de Segura (Murcia), has specialized in the production of twist-off caps, which it supplies to companies in the food industry all over the world.
The recyclable raw material required for production must be easily moldable and have a surface quality that is resistant to corrosion and easy to paint.
In this context, Bluemint® becomes a key element.
Numerous advantages
The material produced by thyssenkrupp Rasselstein offers multiple benefits for both the manufacturer and the end consumer. “When you open a jar of jam, you expect to hear the characteristic ‘pop’,” says Miguel Valdivia, export sales manager at thyssenkrupp Rasselstein.says Miguel Valdivia, export sales manager at thyssenkrupp Rasselstein.
One of the reasons why this acoustic seal of quality is always present when opening Hero jam jars is the consistent quality of the tinplate, which allows it to be processed smoothly in the presses.
In addition, another key advantage is the reliable and punctual delivery of even large volumes of tinplate.
Every year, the steel packaging specialist supplies tons of this material to Spain.
Corrosion resistance and sustainability
It also has a corrosion-resistant and paintable surface, a key feature for Bemasa, which has to paint and print the caps according to the strict specifications of its international customers in the food industry.
Lithography of these products requires not only special machines and highly trained experts, but also the most suitable surface.
Bluemint® Steel offers customers a more sustainable alternative for developing future-proof, CO2-reducing and environmentally friendly packaging.
“This commitment is another example of our environmental commitment,” says Ernesto García-Balibrea, general manager of Bemasa Caps.
“Not only do we constantly seek excellence and quality in each of our products, but we also want every step we take to be with the most environmentally friendly materials.”
