The Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility of the University of Murcia (UMU) recently announced that the company Auxiliar Conservera, based in Molina de Segura and an international benchmark in the manufacture of metal packaging, will be a sponsor. Since its foundation in 1961, the company has five factories in Spain and two in Chile and Germany. Family-owned, it maintains a close relationship with its customers and a firm commitment to the sustainability of its business.
The list of organizations and companies supporting the CSR Chair has been increased with the addition of Auxiliar Conservera, joining others such as Aguas de Murcia, Molina de Segura City Council, Disfrimur, Estrella Levante, Fundación Diagrama, Fundación Cajamurcia, Caixabank, Fundación Cepaim, Grupo Fuertes, Hero España, HTBA, Orenes and Soltec.
For more than six decades, the company from Molina has been developing its business with stability, reaching a high level of consolidation within the sector. This makes the company choose the corporate social responsibility approach as a strategy to manage the results derived from its activities.
AC has launched several initiatives including the ‘Talento AC’ program, created in 2016. This program is considered a national benchmark and was awarded the Cegos E&T 2020 Award for its practices aimed at development and learning. The company is also committed to complying with the United Nations 2030 Agenda through its adherence to the Global Compact.
Auxiliar Conservera, understanding that caring for the environment goes beyond legal obligations, has signed its commitment tacitly as a company through adherence to the United Nations Global Compact, as well as through the ‘Business Ambition – SBT Objectives’ charter, where it focuses on reducing GHG emissions. In addition, they have developed a Decarbonization Plan with the objective of reducing their emissions by 50% by 2030 and becoming neutral by 2050.
The rector of the UMU, José Luján, together with Longinos Marín and Pedro J. Cuestas, attended the meeting held for the signing of the agreement between the university and Auxiliar Conservera. On the supplier’s side, Daniel Ballesta was the CEO, in addition to Paola Giménez and Cristina Mena in the positions of Head of Talent Management and CSR, respectively, and Head of Communications.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a way of managing the direction of the company where the results that its performance produces for external groups, the ecosystem and society in general are managed. This was first seen as a skill that gave organizations an advantage, but is now seen as an integral part of business assets.
