Argentine player Kun Agüero has teamed up with former Coca-Cola executive Guido Rosales to launch Go Mate, a brand with which they are ready to take on the giants in the sector.

The idea was born three years ago when Thiago, the teenage son of Rosales and gamer , a video game enthusiast, suffered first-hand, as his father now recalls, the risks of energy drinks with harmful effects on his health that affected his nervous system. The manager adds that energy drinks “have levels of caffeine and sugar that are way above what is healthy”.

Rosales proposes a natural solution without undesirable side effects. To do so, he says, he decided to combine the best of nootropic plants – memory stimulants or cognitive enhancers – with South American yerba mate.

In view of the success among Thiago’s friends and fans, the manager decided to bring together a team of research and development professionals, as well as sports experts such as former soccer player Kun Agüero, who immediately joined the project.

The former Coca-Cola executive recognizes that these excesses of caffeine and sugar cause addiction -and sometimes fatal consequences- to those who consume these beverages in excessive quantities. In fact, more and more countries, such as Canada, are implementing recommendations to restrict the consumption of these beverages.  Kun Agüero, who had to retire from soccer due to heart problems, says that “Go Mate is the only natural solution on the market that provides sustained mental clarity, focus and relaxation, without the spikes and subsequent crashes of energy drinks.”

The product is based on yerba mate, which has similar characteristics to matcha tea, and natural nootropic plants. In the case of  Go Mate, a blend of the best nootropics in the world, such as Peruvian maca, cocoa husk, gotu kola and the lemon balm plant, has been selected. According to Guido, it is a 100% natural drink, made with yerba mate, with no added sugars, no preservatives and with a sufficient dose of caffeine to provide improvements to the body, but not too much to harm it.  “The battle is not against caffeine, the WHO recommends between 300 and 400 milligrams of caffeine per day per adult.”

Go Mate, which is produced in Austria, is already available in Spain at El Corte Inglés and Carrefour stores, as well as the company’s own online store. The product is also sold in the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and in the coming months it will land in the United States, Uruguay, Dubai and Kuwait. After that, Argentina, the country of mate, and where its promoters come from, will follow.
