Radnor Hills and multinational metal can and closure supplier, Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP), are producing customized canned beverages to help keep golfers hydrated at some of the major professional events this 2024.

These co-branded cans of contain spring water from Radnor the official water supplier to several high-profile DP World Tour golf tournaments this summer, including the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, the Betfred British Masters to be played at The Belfry between August 29 and September 1, and the BMW PGA Championship, to be played at Wentworth Club from September 19-22.

The leading Welsh beverage manufacturer is also the official supplier of the Senior Open Championship, which this year was held at the famous Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland.

The canned water is available to players, caddies and marshalls in several specially marked coolers and water coolers around the tees and practice areas at the various events. Prominent players such as Rory McIlroy, Bob MacIntyre and Tom Kim were photographed with the cans at a press conference at the Genesis Scottish Open.

The DP World Tour’s ‘Green Drive’ sustainability program has made it the first professional golf Tour to commit to being net zero carbon by 2040. This is part of the tour’s broader Golf for Good program, a commitment to environmental and social sustainability to ensure a long-term positive impact on the courses, countries and communities visited each season.

Simon Knight, managing director of Radnor Hills, has expressed his delight at working with the DP World Tour for a third year and supporting them in their sustainability strategy: “it excites to appreciate the difference a truly collaborative approach to implementing sustainability best practice can make.”

Maria Grandinetti-Milton, director of sustainability at the DP World Tour, added: “Eliminating single-use plastics from our tournaments has been a key priority within our Green Drive program and the Radnor Hills metal beverage cans used by players, caddies and marshalls are a perfect complement to our spectator water refill stations. They are convenient, easy to recycle and are having a real impact on reducing a tournament’s environmental footprint.”

David Spratt, CEO of AMP, says he enjoys the long-term partnership with Radnor Hills that has evolved this 2024 with recycling awareness at sporting events across Europe, such as the DP World Tour.
