The multinational Ardagh Group S.A. continues its strong commitment to education and specialized training in Germany. It recently announced a major multi-year grant to Wissensfabrik to deliver science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education to elementary and high school students in all 14 communities across Germany.
According to the company, over the next decade, Ardagh-sponsored education programs will benefit more than 200,000 primary and secondary school students, and improve teacher training in its classroom, resulting in curriculum improvement for 1,100 teachers in more than 350 schools in Ardagh’s German communities. After launching a similar program in the United States in 2021, this partnership is the next major investment as part of Ardagh for Education, Ardagh’s global social sustainability education initiative.
“Ardagh is a major employer in all the communities in which we operate in the Americas, Europe and Africa. Our team in Germany consists of more than 3,000 skilled people in our 14 German locations,” said Paul Coulson, president and CEO of Ardagh Group. “Social sustainability is at the core of our sustainability strategy. We recognize the critical role that education and access to education plays in ensuring equal opportunities and building successful and vibrant communities. We expect to invest €5 million over ten years to support education in our German communities. We are delighted to announce our partnership with Wissensfabrik as part of this multi-year and impactful program. Ardagh’s investment will drive quality STEM education in our German communities which are key to economic development as well as our long-term business,” the executive highlighted.
It should be noted that Wissensfabrik is a leading non-profit organization that transforms the learning experience of students across Germany to unlock their potential. Wissensfabrik projects have a strong connection to real-world challenges such as sustainability and digital transformation, fostering curiosity and allowing students to investigate and explore in diverse areas.
